Celery seeds - tiny, brown, nothing very attractive about them at all. They are difficult to find in stores as I suppose they don't have the pizaaz of star anise or cinnamon sticks. Lots of chutney and pickle recipes list them as an ingredient which isn't helpful when they are hard to find. Its tempting to leave them out which is a shame for what they lack in looks they make up for with flavour.
